Year end 2018

Posted on November 01, 2018 by

Good morning everyone and happy 1st day of November,

2018 is quickly coming to an end and our EAA Christmas Dinner is one month away on Saturday December 1st at 6PM. It's FREE to anyone who worked the airshow or any Young Eagle day throughout the year and it's only $15 for those who didn't so it's a win win for us all. (the menu will be posted in a later email but be assured it will be as tasty as in the past along with a FREE bar).

Here is a short recap of what we accomplished for 2018:

Flew well over 400Young Eagles

Sent 6 kids on a one week stay at the EAA Air Academy with all expenses paid.

Assisted our local Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program by donating $12,500

Helped the Tahoe Safe Alliance program by donating $10,000

Gave untold thousands of hours of volunteer time and energy which is hard to even measure.

We also will be voting for your Board of Directors by voice at the Christmas party. All the members of the current board have agreed to stay in office with no other member/s requesting to be considered in any position. Your current board is as follows:

Tim LoDolce, President

Mike Abel, VP

Pat Mcdonough, Secretary

Diane White, Treasurer

Tom Meadows, YE Coordinator

Charlie White, at large

We are a finely tuned board and we thank you in advance for your continued appreciation.

So we are now looking into 2019 and we will continue to provide scholarships to the Air Academy along with supporting our Young Eagle and CAP cadet programs. We will also be the leaders of the Truckee Tahoe AirShow & Family Festival for next year. I will be spending most of the first week of December at the International Council of Airshows finalizing our airshow performer lineup and keeping up with any changes passed down from the FAA and military organizations.

New for 2019 is a youth program that will train and license several local youths in gliders with all expenses paid by EAA1073. I am working with Richard Pearl, president of the Truckee Tahoe Soaring Association (formerly Soar Truckee) on putting this together so it can be accomplished within a short period of time. More to come on that as we get further down the road.
