EAA 1073 very active Young Eagles Program

EAA 1073 very active Young Eagles Program

The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 by the National EAA organization to introduce young people ages 8 through 17 to aviation by giving them a free ride in a general aviation aircraft. To date, more than two million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight through this program. Young Eagles have been registered in more than 90 different countries and have been flown by more than 42,000 volunteer pilots. For more information, click on: eaa-young-eagles-program.

When a young person becomes a Young Eagle, they receive a logbook with their flight entered into it, and a certificate designating them as a Young Eagle. The logbook has a code in it that is used to activate their EAA Student Membership, which allows them to access several programs, including Sporty’s Pilot Shop’s “Learn to Fly” course (free!). There are many other opportunities available by searching: EAA Youth Programs.

Chapter 1073 has a very active Young Eagles program, with regular Young Eagle flights available the second Saturday of every month at the same time as our pancake breakfast at the EAA1073 hangar at the airport. July is special — we shall be registering Young Eagles at the 2017 Truckee Tahoe AirShow & Family Festival July – Saturday, July 8th for a rally the next day – Sunday, July 9th.

Come to the airshow – Truckee Tahoe AirShow & Family Festival, on Saturday, sign up and come back Sunday morning for Young Eagle flights!

These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of chapter volunteers. EAA Chapter 1073 pilots have flown over 4,100 Young Eagles since the program started.
